Musician Profile
Kim Buehler
Kim whose mother is a singer, comes from a long line of musicians. She sang her first song, "Hey There Georgie Girl", at 16 months and has been singing ever since.
Many remember her from Dave Gierke's rock group "Touched" with Kelly Broadway, Jim Lee and Dan Faehnle and other Toledo musicians who made a big splash in Toledo and up and down both coasts. Jim and Dan were Kim's roommates and great musical influences.
We have heard her voice when we didn't know who it was, as she has had a succesful career as a commercial singer.
Kim received a Master's degree in Music Performance at the University of Toledo where she was a teaching assistant to vocal jazz legend Dr. Jon Hendricks. She was a featured soloist with his Vocalstra while travelling with him to Paris and also on the QEII.
Now she and other of Dr. Hendricks' students are putting their association with him to work in the group "Sixth Edition", who have just produced their first CD "It's About Time".
We have also benefited from Kim's efforts at the Toledo Jazz Society and the Art Tatum Jazz Heritage Festival each year.
Here she is after a long vacation. Welcome back, Kim
